8th Grade Art: The 8th graders are starting a “Monster Mug” project. They will create their own monster that will turned into a functional mug or cup made out of clay. We have reviewed clay techniques such as using slabs, coils, pinching, and other methods to build their monsters. The students can add pieces, scratch in decorations and can choose any sort of design for their monster mug. The pots will be fired, glazed and then fired again.
Due Date: Friday, April 22nd
Sketchbook Assignment
The sketchbook assignment will be due for 8th Grade Art in May 2011. Remember, the sketchbooks were made at the beginning of the semester.
Requirements: Five detailed sketches plus a decorated cover are re quired. Sket ches can be any appropriate subject done in pencil or colored pencil. Must be detail ed and fill the whole page. &nbs p;More points will be given for the amount of effort put forth. Extra points will be given for additional sketches.
Points: The sketches will be 20 points each and the cover will also be 20 points, totaling 120 points. Since the due date is set for the third to last week of the semester it would not be wise to turn in this assignment late or not at all. Missing 120 points would bring down your grade significantly and there would not be time to mak e it up before grades are due. If it is turned in after the due date you can only receive half credit of the tota l points received (that is less than 60 points).
Thi s assignment can be turned in any time before the due date. Good luck and happy sketching!!!
