1. What are the class rules?
#1 Be on time to class
#2 Treat others with respect
#3 No gum, candy or drinks allowed in class
#4 Follow science safety guidelines
#5 Know and follow these Classroom Procedures
2. What do I do when I walk into class?
#1 Go directly to my assigned seat and be seated.
#2 Check, read, and write down the agenda in your planner.
#3 Begin to work on the first agenda task.
3. How should I label my papers? Example

4. What do I do when the bell rings to end class?
Wait for the teacher to dismiss class
5. What if I need to sharpen my pencil?
Wait for an appropriate time and go sharpen it.
6. What should I do after I have been absent?
Check the assignment web page
Check the back white board and copy the agendas for the days you missed
Pick up papers mentioned in the agendas and/or the web page
Ask a classmate or Mr. O if you have any questions
You have one day to make up work for each day you are absent
Place completed assignments in the Assignment Basket
7. What if I need to go to my locker or the restroom?
Always ask and receive permission to leave the room - in most cases you will also need to fill out your planner
It is your responsibility to bring necessary materials to class - in most cases you will not be allowed to return to your locker to retrieve forgotten materials
8. What should I bring to class each day?
8th Graders: science notebook, planner, folder, pen or pencil, science textbook
9th Graders: science notebook, planner, folder, pen or pencil, science textbook, scientific calculator (you will not need a graphing calculator)

9. What do I do if the fire or tornado alarms ring?
Stop what you are doing and move quickly and quietly to the designated area
Always treat drills with a serious attitude
In case of a real emergency, remain calm and follow directions
10. What should I do if I finish my work early?
Check to make sure the work is complete and includes your name, date, grade and section.
Work on missing/late assignments
Work on interest points (8th) or weekly extra credit (9th)
Read a science magazine or book of your choice
11. How will I be graded in science class?
100-93% = A 77-73% = C
92-90% = A- 72-70% = C-
88-89% = B+ 69-68% = D+
87-83% = B 67-63% = D
82-80% = B- 62-60% = D-
79-78% = C+ 59-0% = F

Sometimes an e-mail is a good way to communicate or send an assignment if your printer breaks down the night before an assignment or report is due
