7TH GRADE ART
The first project of the trimester is a design/drawing project based on students names. The goals of the project are 1.)To tell me a lot about the student. 2.) To make the project look 3-d. 3.) To make the project as informative and interesting as possible. We have talked a lot about overlapping as a means of creating the illusion of depth in a drawing and students are working on plans that include losts of overlapping and layering. Due date: 9/8/2010
8TH /9TH GRADE CRAFTS
Craft students are begining a unit on macrame (knot tying). Students are currently practicing the basic square knot and the half-hitch knot. No due date has been set yet.
9th GRADE ART
9th grade art is an elective class and as such my expectations for students are quite high. Many of my 9th graders have taken 8th grade art or crafts and this indicates to me they have an intense interest in art. This semester students will have sketchbook assignments. It will be important that students spend a significant amount of time on those assignments. Students will also receive a daily art grade based on effort and attitude. It is important that students remain focused on the project and make an effort to do their best each day. Art students are working on the cover of the sketchbook. Due date: 9/7/10 (end of class).
