Parents,                       
                Spring Break is March 15 - 19, there is no school.    Have a good week with your children.   Do lots of reading and writing together!!
       
Activities for the Week:
        Vocabulary -  “Air Transportation”
        We will be naming and drawing pictures of air transportation.  Help your child name and describe them.  Look in books, newspapers, and magazines.

        Fairy Tale - “Little Red Hen”
        Please send any books or items you may have about this fairy tale to school for sharing.   Read and practice retelling this fairy tale with your child at home together.

        Language Concepts  -  part/half
        Practice and review these words at home with your child.  Ask them to use these words using items that are in your house or yard.

        Social Studies -  “When I Travel Around the City”
        The students will make a bus.
                        
        Science  -  “Animals Move differently”
        We will read about animals and how they move, crawl, jump, fly, swim, etc.

        Health -  “Prevent Aciidents”
        The students will talk about different types of accidents and how they can be prevented.
        
        Weekly Reader -  “Baby Animals Learn”
        We will read about how different animals learn to survive.  
        
         Mini-Book -  “Where Did They Go?”
          The first grade students should read the mini story booklets to you that they have read and bring home each Friday or at the end of the week.  They can color the booklet at home. Then keep it with their other papers and books to practice reading to you.    They should use their finger to point under the words as they read to you.

  !!! Parent/Student Homework - Have your child tell you about/read to you all of the papers/booklets that they bring home everyday.   Each student has reading and math activities everyday at their ability level.  Your child can practice writing, reading, and spelling their name, alphabet, letter/sounds, words, numbers, shapes, spelling words - drawing, coloring, and cutting pictures for homework.  ***Use the flash cards that you have or any that I have sent home.  (shapes, colors, letters, beginning sounds, numbers, reading words, addition or subtraction facts)

                I hope everyone had a great spring break with their families.  Now we are ready for spring!!!

        We will be naming and drawing pictures of water transportation.  Help your child name and describe them.  Look in books, newspapers, and magazines.

        The students will review the 4 seasons - winter, spring, summer, and fall.   Talk to your child about different activities your family does during each season.
                        
        Science  -  “Animals - 6 Legs and No Legs”
        We will read about insects and snakes.

        Health -  “Safety Away from Home”
        The students will talk about what to do on a bus and what to do around strangers.
        
        Weekly Reader -  “How to Get to School”
        We will read about how students come to school in different vehicles, bikes, or walk.
