HOLMES JR. HIGH PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Septmeber-
We will be swim testing and then starting our first swim unit/ ultimate frisbee.
Policies and Procedures
1. At the beginning of the year, each student will be assigned a basket or locker for Physical Education clothes only. No person may change baskets or lockers without permission from the teacher. Each student will be given a padlock. They are responsible for locking their locker. Personal padlocks are not to be used. Use only the basket or locker assigned to you.
2. Students are expected to store binders, textbooks, and notebooks in the
shelving provided in the hallway. Students are discouraged from bringing
valuable items to P.E. Valuable items can be secured in the school safe.
Other items of value that may be included with the students school binders such
as: calculators, lunch cards, etc. can be secured in their gym locker
with the school provided padlock.
3. The locker room is not open to students before school, at noon, or after school, unless supervised by a teacher/ coach.
4. All students are strongly encouraged to shower unless excused by the instructor.
5. Walk in the locker room at all times, as the floor becomes slippery when wet. Walk around benches not over them.
6. Jewelry is not to be worn in class. A small container inside of your
basket/ locker may be helpful.
7. RESPECT: Students are expected to act in a respectful manner towards
teacher, equipment, and each other. Derogatory remarks directed toward
teachers, or student for any reason at any time will not be tolerated.
8. Cell phones are not allowed in the locker rooms.
Uniforms:
* Uniforms can be purchased at Iowa Sports Supply. Ask for the Holmes Jr. High P.E. Uniform.
Uniforms will be worn everyday (except for the dance unit). Students last names and first initial need to be written on the front and back of shirt. Last name and first initial also need to be written below the Cedar Falls logo on the students shorts. Please make sure it is legible. Shirts will be tucked in at all times. Short are to be unrolled and covering undergarments at all times. Extra shirts are not to be worn under uniform. White socks are required.
All persons are to dress in full uniform every day, unless a medical excuse from a physician specifies differently. Notes from parents will be accepted at the instructor's discretion.
Shoes- Students must wear shoes that can be tied snug, with a bow and the knot on top, visible to the teacher. No dark soled shoes.
Tennis shoes will be worn while participating in activities. Street shoes are not to be worn on the gym floor.
During the swim unit students will be expected to wear school issued swimsuits.
